The success of Squid Game's first Netflix series, Hoyeon, a South Korean actress and model, received international recognition. In recognition of her performance that made headlines on the show, Hoyeon won the Screen Actors Guild award for the Outstanding Performance of a Female Actor in a Drama Series and also an Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the Drama Series. Originating from Myeonmok-dong located in the suburbs of Seoul Hoyeon kicked off her modeling career as a model for hire during the 2011 Seoul Fashion Week. Korea's Next Top Model was her fourth season, and she came out with a runner-up finish. Her international breakthrough came in 2016, when she was granted the world's exclusive contract from Louis Vuitton.
